The Department of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Joint MA Programme in Identity, Education and Competences for Democratic Culture invite you to the international workshop entitled\u00a0\u201cChristianity and Democracy: Historical Legacies, Contemporary Challenges, and Education for Democratic Culture\u201d\u00a0that will take place on\u00a0Wednesday, 11 November 2026, from 16:30 to 20:00, at the\u00a0Audiovisual Hall of the School of Theology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Panepistimiopolis, Ilissia.
The is part of the Research Colloquium series\u00a0\u201cChristianity and its theology in history and culture\u201d<\/i>\u00a0and is co-organized with the Joint Master\u2019s Programme\u00a0\u201cIdentity, Education and Competences for Democratic Culture.\u201d<\/i>
The workshop will explore the relationship between Christian traditions and democratic life, bringing historical, theological and educational perspectives into dialogue. Contributions will address understandings of human rights, democratic values in modern Greek academic theology, the relationship between Orthodox Christianity and imperial or national identities, and the role of education in promoting dialogue, pluralism and critical reflection.
