FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

How long does the MA Programme "Identity, Education and Competences for Democratic Culture" last?

The MA Programme lasts 1 full year with two semesters of courses and the summer period for the writing of the Master thesis (full-time mode). Students can, upon justified application, choose to study part-time, in which case the MA Programme’s duration is 2 years. This means that the courses are divided into 4 semesters instead of 2 and the redaction of the master thesis takes place in the summer of the second year.

Is there a possibility for a discount due to social criteria?

No discounts are provided. However, enrolled students may apply for scholarships or tuition waiver based on income, social and excellence criteria according to the Greek legislation.

Who is eligible to apply for a tuition waiver?

According to the current legislation (law 4957/2022 article 86, par. 1) the tuition fee exemption concerns students who are enrolled in a Master Programme and meet the income or social criteria, as well as the excellence criteria defined. Specifically, the prerequisite for eligibility is the fulfillment of the conditions of excellence during first cycle of studies. This corresponds to a grade equal to or higher than seven and a half out of ten (7.5/10) according to the ten-point rating scale of the Greek Higher Education Institutes. The average income of the last 2 years cannot exceed seventy percent (70%) of the national median disposable equivalent income, according to the most recently published data of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). Social criteria that are taken into account include disability, single parenthood, etc. Only students originated inside the EU are eligible for a waiver. Please contact our Secretariat via email for further information.

I have previously been granted a tuition waiver for attending a Master Programme in Greece, can I reapply?

No, according to the legislation the right to a tuition waiver is granted exclusively for one greek Master Programme.
