Tromara Sophia

Sophia Tromara is a Dr. in Educational Studies, Department of Primary Education, School of Education, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 2008. She holds a Master’s Degree (MSc) from the University of Bristol, Department of Sociology – and a BA from the Department of History and Ethnology of DUTH. She currently teaches at the Post Graduate Programme “Evaluation in Education and Life-Long Learning and Training, 2024-2025”, at the University of Western Macedonia, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Department of Early Childhood Education as well as in the Post Graduate Program of Intercultural Studies and Greek as 2nd/Foreign Language (DL), Faculty of Education & Social Sciences, ‘Interculturalism and Education/the Pedagogical and Social Dimension’. She is PAD supervisor at ASPAITE Thessaloniki. In the past, she has been a SEP at the Hellenic Open University (HOU) in the study program “Language Education for Refugees and Migrants” as well as in the Interdepartmental Master’s Program of the Department of Philosophy-Pedagogy, (Department of Education) of the AUTH in the study program “Pedagogy for Gender Equality”. For a number of years, she has worked for the Ministry of Education as a researcher. She has a published a monograph/book on multicultural education and ethnic diversity and she has translated two books by the Sage publications on gender and sociology of families. At the same time, she has numerous publications in Greek and international scientific journals, in collective volumes and conference proceedings. She has participated in research projects on gender equality and has been a trainer of Secondary school teachers. She is a member of the World Organization of Early Childhood Education (OMEP). She has training certificates in Open and Distance Education and gender equality. Her research and academic interests focus on the field of Sociology of Education and Pedagogy, specifically on issues of gender equality, human rights, intercultural and anti-racist education, ethnic identities, inclusive education, social justice and sustainable development for a quality education.
