Registration for the International Conference on Human Rights and Democratic Culture

The Joint Master’s Program “Identity, Education and Competences for Democratic Culture” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the European Wergeland Centre, as well as the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, announce the opening of registrations for the International Conference “Human Rights and Democratic Culture in Practice: Applications and Challenges”, which will be held in Athens, on 25–26 April 2026.
The aim of the Conference is to explore the ways in which the values of Human Rights and Democratic Culture can be applied in practice, as well as the challenges they face in a rapidly changing world. At the same time, it aspires to be a field of substantive dialogue between scholars, researchers, educators and professionals from Greece and abroad, with an emphasis on issues of identity, participation, social justice and the rule of law.
We are pleased to announce that Michael Pikramenos (President of the Council of State) and Villano Qiriazi, (Head of Education of the Council of Europe) will attend the conference as keynote speakers.
