Papakonstantinou Antigone-Alba

Associate Professor of Sociology of Education at the Department of Secondary Education, Faculty of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Antigoni-Alba Papakonstantinou is Associate Professor of Sociology of Education at the Department of Secondary Education, Faculty of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. A graduate of the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of NKUA, she completed her postgraduate and doctoral studies in France (Université de Rouen and Université Paris VIII respectively).

She has taught at several regional universities (University of Ioannina, University of Patras, etc.) and has served as an Educational Consultant at the Hellenic Open University (2013-2021). In 2017 she was elected to the rank of Assistant Professor in the department where she is a faculty member until today and since then she has been teaching Sociology of Education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, in several departments of the Faculty of Philosophy and in the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science.

She has participated in several co-funded European and national research projects since 2003, has worked in the Migration Department of the Council of Europe and has served as Expert to the Special Secretariat for Intercultural Education of the Ministry of Education (2011-2012). She is a member of the Board Committee of the Research Network 10 of the European Sociological Association and of the International Association for Education and Training in Family Education (AIFREF).

She has published numerous articles, book chapters and conference proceedings in Greek, French and English and authored a book on parent-school relations in French.

Her research interests and writing focus on social inequalities and discrimination in education, school-family interactions and democracy in schools and families.
